The Lab

Research

The research behind the Spatial Experiential Embodiment Laboratory (SEE Lab), and the Movement Language Model it trains.

The framing

Building a machine that learns the way people know. Every major intelligence system we have learns the same way. It reads the world’s data, the text and images and recordings, gathered at scale and mostly without asking, and it learns the world from the outside. That approach has produced powerful tools, and it has also produced something else: knowledge stripped from the bodies and cultures that made it, learned without consent, abstracted away from the people it came from. There is one kind of knowledge this approach cannot reach, what a body knows through movement, what it feels while moving, the culture that trained it, and the ground that conditioned it. That knowledge does not live in scraped data. It lives in people.

01Frontier report

Why the first machine intelligence began from the wrong starting point, and what an intelligence built from the human experience of the world changes.

The Benefits of Embodied AI

02The doorway · start here

What the Movement Language Model is for, and what researchers, dancers, and practitioners can do with it. How the system gives movement a longer computational life.

Movement that outlives its first question

03Geospatial data-story

The corpus read across the planetary field: the traditions recorded so far, lit against the movement cultures still unread.
